After 3 years in the Navy I got out and stayed in California. After two years of dating Chas, a navy guy...we married and have been for the past 14 years. We have lived together in California, Georgia, Italy, back to California, Hawaii, and now Illinois. We have two children ages 8 and 2. We are very close to retirement from the Navy and look forward to settling down...some place...once we decide where we want to live forever. We have decided it will NOT be Illinois!
What Are You Doing Now?
I am happily a stay at home mom. I stay busy taking care of my family and exercising! My husband and I are runners and have done 2 half marathons this past year. One day I hope to have the nerve to do a full marathon.
Hey Joni - Yeah he deploys from here. He switched between Seabee battalions which deploy and shore duty. But it is unusual to spend 20 out of 22 years in the same area. Join the Navy, see Port Hueneme!
Hi Joni! We won't be in Lansing this weekend but I'll let you know the next trip we plan. Are you taking your kids trick-or-treating in our old neighborhood? A while back I found some pics of us when we went trick-or-treating...wish we had digital camera's back then!!! You had on a karate outfit and I think I was suppose to be an artist????!!!! AAHHH the memories....=)
Hey Johnnie, good to see you on the site and you have a lovely looking family, good to see on the site. it's funny how life moves real fasssst but you always remember your school pals. i'm down in Naperville, maybe we could get some lunch together?
Erik is a Seabee Senior Chief (CMCS), but he doesn't get to do much mechanic work anymore. I think that we will stay here in Port Hueneme until he retires, so he will have been here 28 of 30 years in the service. We aren't the norm though, most CBs move. It is good with the kids and school, but I miss the adventure of moving and making new friends. I think last we talked you were still pregnant, she turned out beautifully! Do you know where in Japan you might head. I did not care for Okinawa, but I loved Misawa which was farther north. But you would still have the rough winters up there.
Hi Johnnie - I wondered where you settled after Hawaii. Although I was happy to get off the island after 3 years I don't think Illinois would have been my first choice either. You look wonderful - I'm surprised you never tried the Honolulu marathon while you were there.
Hey Johnnie, yeah, I remember chatting with you when you were in Hawaii as well. I've made it over to Gurnee twice in five years of living over here, and it was the last two summers, taking the kids to Six Flags. I travel a ton for work anymore, so I don't get around too much, but I will keep you in mind if I get that way. It is colder here, huh? hehe...hope you keep warm though. Crystal Lake is a very nice town. Take care,
Great hearing from you! Your kids are adorable!! Isn't this site great! I admit that I'm addicted!!! Yes lets definitely get together again. We are still in the same area and I get to Lansing at least once a month. We are going to my sister's in Holt this weekend. Let me know when you are planning your next visit! Keep in touch!
