You are such a nerd for the public access channel. Do you watch the city council meeting too? I see my uncle a couple of times a year. He was here when Courtney was born, as my grandma died 9 days before she was born, so he likes to be around her on her birthday. Last year he meet up with me in Alabama. I haven't been to his house in several years so I guess it was my turn to go there. My mom and his bought the ticket so how could I say no. I know about baby daddy's. I try my best to let Court see her dad but I get alittle tired of the last minute stuff. I put my foot down a couple of weeks ago and it has gotten better. Sometimes it is hard not to talk about her dad so I understand having to bite your tougue. I use to tell her when she would say "dada". That dada was in the trash. She starting looking in the trash and saying dada. I had to stop but it was pretty funny. :) Hope you have a warm Silver Bells. I am going to watch from the third floor window as normal. Have a great week-end.

My uncle lives in Houston. My parents are coming over from Alabama to celebrate Christmas and Courtney's birthday. My uncle was here when Courtney was born a couple of years ago. Sometimes it seems like a spend all of my time here. When we go to 12 hour shifts it will feel like that. I can't even seem that wonferful odor anymore. Are you going to Silver Bells?

I knew that you would be there. Everytime I see the sign I think of you. Lansing's finest citizens are doing well. We will be spending Thanksgiving together as well. I am soooo excited:( The jail is better then dispatch. I applied up there but I guess I was to stupid but I got the job down here. 12 year later here I still am. I can't wait until the x-mas party. I will probably have to make it an early night because I will have to go get my child and I have to be at the Lansing airport at 0600 hrs. I am going to Texas for x-mas.

Well, things were obviously a little bit unusual during the three or four days between JFK's assassination and his funeral, so once the game and classes got called off I think a lot of people forgot about it. There was some criticism (especially from U-M people) about the priorities, but it fit in with the general attitude that college students are adults (as long as they didn't try to drink, smoke or vote until they were 21) and could make up their own minds whether to attend classes or not. It was a strange few days. The radio had either wall-to-wall news or funeral music, TV was news, tributes, with a live murder of Lee Harvey Oswald thrown in for good measure (I was watching). There was no way MSU could have gone ahead with its original plans, and it might have only been hours before the classes got called off, but I think it took a day (and maybe an editorial or two) for the football game to be cancelled.

That year or the next, some of the soon-to-be campus radicals started complaining about the attitude of "militant apathy" displayed by MSU students, but there was beginning to be some change, originally on behalf of student rights, especially after a bunch of students got arrested for underage drinking at a "grasser" in Shiawassee County, disrupting their God-given right to get drunk (students have their priorities, after all). It wasn't long after that until MSU students were going on Freedom Rides (I didn't, but I did picket the East Lansing City Council on behalf of an open housing ordinance, but that's not quite on par with confronting the KKK in Mississippi). Right at the center of all that activity were the merit scholars Hannah lured to campus. They found out about, and published the CIA connection, the State News editor wanted to publish something or other the advisors objected to, he walked and started "The Paper", and John A. Hannah became John A. Palindrome. By then, he was very unpopular with the student body (but so was just about every other major college president at the time). Quite a transition in four years.
